Staying Connected with Grandchildren
February 16, 2023 @ 11:30 am - 1:30 pm
$10.00This class will take place on February 16, 11:30a.m.-1:30p.m., Mercer Library Conference Room.
How rare it is that our children and grandchildren live in our community or close enough that we can connect with them often. Oh, there is Zoom, Facetime and a number of social platforms that allow us to send messages, but all too often our time, especially with our grandchildren, is limited and challenging to make happen on a regular basis. The brief connections compete with their sports, studying, socializing with friends, weekend jobs and tournaments. How might we make our contacts meaningful and memorable for both our grandchildren and us?
This one-session, lunchtime workshop is intended to “pool” our positive and creative ways of staying connected with our grandchildren. What do you do? What has worked or not worked for you? What feedback do you receive from your grandchildren or through their parents? How has your effort changed as they age? Bring your ideas (and your lunch), and let’s share.
A workshop facilitated by Erv Teichmiller, grandfather to four girls and three boys, ages 13-24, grade eight to graduate school. He has a background in mental health administration and pastoral ministry. Erv is currently the part time pastor of the Mercer United Methodist Church.
Enrollment is limited to 20 students.
