Paul A. Sturgul is Of Counsel with Sturgul & Long, S.C., Hurley, an Elder Law firm he established in 1975. His practice includes planning for long-term care, Medicaid and Medicare, guardianships and guardianship avoidance, and estate planning and administration. He is certified as an Elder Law Attorney, Emeritus, by the National Elder Law Foundation and has served as its president. He has also served as chairman of the Wisconsin and Michigan State Bar Elder Law Sections.
Paul is a Fellow of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and has served on its board of directors. He served as a congressional delegate to the White House Conference on Aging in 2005, and was a member of the UN’s Working Group on the Rights of the Elderly in 2018. Paul has given presentations throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe, and is a regular guest on WNMU – PBS, in Marquette, Michigan, on Elder Law issues. He has been listed as a Wisconsin Super Lawyer since its inception in 2005, and is listed in the Best Lawyers in America.
Paul’s professional life includes private practice, advocacy, public speaking, teaching, research, and writing.
In his leisure time, Paul enjoys bicycling, walking, gardening, photography, classical music, and traveling.
