Emmie Norton has been with Northern Waters Genealogical Society almost from the beginning. She was past president of the society from June 2022 to June 2024 and currently is Membership Chair. Her background ethnicity is Irish and Polish. Her first genealogy search was on ancestry/libraryedition at the Presque Isle Community Library for the ship that her grandfather came to America on and was immediately successful so she got hooked on genealogical/family history research and 20 years later she is still at it. Her other interests include gardening, birdwatching, astronomy and being in the great outdoors, snowshoeing, walking, biking, and swimming. She enjoys teaching and has taught a variety of community education and health classes. She believes that variety is the spice of life.
