David Barnhill is a retired professor (Chair of the Religious Studies Department, Guilford College, and then Director of Environmental Studies at U.W. Oshkosh) who received his Ph.D. in Chinese and Japanese religions from Stanford University. Before retiring, he taught a wide variety of introductory and advanced courses on the subject. He has devoted his retirement to the study of art, both Western and Chinese, and to the development of his own nature photography (www.davidbarnhillphotography.com). He has taught a course on Great Masters of Western Art at Fe University in the fall of 2024, as well as several art classes for Nicolet College’s Learning in Retirement. He also gave a public lecture on Monet and Van Gogh at the Northern National Art Competition in Rhinelander during the summer of 2024.
