Terra Mater Nature Preserve Hike

Come enjoy a beautiful fall color hike at the new Terra Mater Nature Preserve. This is an excellent opportunity to see this diverse piece of land, as it is currently a private preserve. The hike will be led by naturalist, author and educator John Bates and will take us along 4,000 ft of shoreline, starting at Fisher Lake then heading down the Turtle River to a 24-acre quaking bog, with an excellent view of a working beaver dam and lodge. Making our way around the bog, we will pass through a cedar swamp into a good-size upland cedar forest back to the trailhead. The distance will be 3 miles of flat to undulating terrain.
