Geology of the Apostle Islands
June 19 @ 9:30 am - 3:30 pm
$10.00 – $55.00
This class will take place on Thursday, June 19, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center in Ashland, Wis. An optional boat tour of the Apostle Islands, leaving from Bayfield, Wis., will follow at 1:15 p.m., for an additional registration fee.
The Apostle Islands are referred to as the Crown Jewels of Wisconsin because of their spectacular scenery and geology. This stunning landscape has been created by the action of glaciers, rivers, and most dramatically by the erosive forces of Lake Superior. This slideshow presentation and optional boat tour field trip will explore the factors that have influenced the spectacular coastal landforms such as sea caves and arches that the Islands are famous for.
If also registering for the optional boat tour, please register by June 12.
The optional boat tour is limited to 19 students.
