Still Learning 12: Better Bridge Basics – Review and Polish Your Game
This course will take place on Fridays, April 4, 11, 25, and May 2, 12:30-2:30 p.m. at Frank B. Koller Memorial Library in Manitowish Waters, Wis., with Macy Washow.
Maybe you played bridge in college, but need a refresher. Maybe you play party bridge but would like to take your skills to the next level. Standard American was developed to provide a simple, modern system that both partners can understand. It still forms the basis today for many more complex systems and common conventions. This class is for players who have some bridge experience. We will review the basics of the American Standard System, standard leads, signals, and play of the hand. Based on the skill level and interest of the class, some popular conventions will be introduced. Basic strategies, scoring and play of Duplicate or competitive bridge will also be covered. Sample hands will be dealt, played, and discussed.
Week 1: The Basics. Bidding NT
Week 2: Bidding the majors and minors
Week 3: Take out Doubles, Overcalls, Pre-empts, Strong 2 club.

What is covered each week will be adjusted based on class experience and interest.
