SUMMARY:Sound Safari: Developing Musical Awareness Through Listening
DESCRIPTION:This course will take place on January 11\, 18\, 25\, and February 1\, 2025\, in Mercer\, 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.\, with Rusty Wulff.\n\nThis Fe University course offering will be devoted to awakening and enhancing the average student’s listening experience. Familiar music of varied styles as well as novel forays into “Wow-I-Never-Heard-That-Before Land” will be used for group exploration/discussion. The goal of the sessions is to provide opportunities for everyone to gain insight into how our thoughts and feelings are influenced by songs and sound. \nUsing quality recordings and supplemental live demonstrations\, students will be afforded many opportunities to increase insight\, awareness\, and sensitivity in the world of music. \n“Hey! I never noticed that!” and “Can we hear that again?!” will be phrases the teacher hopes to elicit because this is fun! \nNOT a music theory course.
