Identifying and Managing Northern Trees and Shrubs (Not All Evergreens are Pines!)

September 1, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

$20.00 – $25.00

Not all evergreens are pines! Besides learning to identify northern trees and shrubs, you’ll learn where they grow and why they grow there, plus how to manage them on your property, and which ones are good for wildlife.

On the first day, learn about basic tree and shrub identification (for example, opposite versus branching leaves). You’ll put your newfound knowledge into practice on some of the shrubs outside the Mercer Library.

On the second day, class will meet at the Mercer Library and then head out to look at trees on Chris’s property out on County J. This field trip will include an easy, one mile, mowed trail that will be walked. The field trip will take place rain or shine (unless it’s a thunderstorm), so come prepared to be outdoors!
