Class size: Limited

Objectives:  To understand the history leading up to the Vietnam War

Course structure:  The course will be given in _5__ sessions, each _2__ hours long.

In the 5 sessions the class will explore the international role in creating the unique history of Indo-China and the developing interaction between Vietnam and the United States. The first session will cover Vietnam in the colonial era and the role of the French, etc. U.S. involvement will begin in the second session.

The class will offer insights into the desires and goals of the different stakeholders in this region of the world and how those differing philosophies culminated in the Vietnam War, America’s longest War. 

Requirements: There are no requirements other than an interest in the topic. The instructor will provide an outline of the lectures.

Instructor: This will be the fifth class that Mr. Kelly will be teaching for Fe University.  He previously taught a History of the Civil Rights Movement, the Holocaust Examined, and the Causes of the American Civil War and the Story of Reconstruction.  He has been a history teacher in the Hurley School district for the past 33 years, holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and has attended numerous seminars, graduate classes and workshops on U.S. History.  

 

Course fee: $40 with $5 early bird discount if registration is received by Feb. 5th. This class is free for Vietnam veterans.
