Course Description:
This class will examine the roots of the American Civil War from the founding of the country through the antebellum period. Particular attention will be paid to the development of the U.S. Constitution and the expansion of the country as it created a nation which was increasingly becoming divided. The class will definitely explain the confusing controversies which created the conflict that developed following the Presidential election of 1860 and the ascension of Abraham Lincoln.
